Leatherhead Office at Christmas
Cradlers House, Leatherhead High Street

Cunningham Eves Solicitors opened its doors in Leatherhead High Street in February 2021. It wasn’t long before larger premises were required (not least to house the expanding Lego collection that regularly delights passers-by) and so in January 2023 the current Head Office opened at 33 – 35 High Street – Cradler’s House, the oldest surviving building in the town centre.

2021 was one of the most challenging years for property practitioners – the Stamp Duty Land Tax holiday meant transaction volumes were at an all-time high when the country was still wrestling with ever-changing lockdown rules and the press still reporting that the property industry was closed for business. Despite this, we completed over 250 transactions in the two months prior to the relief being withdrawn by the government and there was not a single client who instructed us to achieve completion by the deadline that was left disappointed.

The Leatherhead office is fully accessible to all and a friendly and welcoming place to come for help and advice on anything that is important to you.

It would be fair to say that Cunningham Eves has its roots firmly planted in Dorking. In 2013 Richard joined a well-known, High Street based firm and within a year had been promoted to Partner. By his own admission, this would not have been possible had Christine not agreed to leave the business the two of them had grown from seed in Guildford to join him.

This pair of young lawyers revolutionised a failing Department and integrated with the local business community, quickly becoming the go-to advisors not just for lay clients but for other practitioners and estate agents in the town. Those already operating in the property industry appreciated not only their no nonsense advice, but their willingness to wade in and help even when they weren’t instructed and/or weren’t being paid for their time – qualities previously unheard of in a solicitors practice.

When the opportunity arose for Cunningham Eves to open a new branch in South Street, Richard and Christine jumped at the chance. The office opened on Monday 10th July 2023, only three weeks after they initially viewed the premises – further evidence that whilst others are ruminating and pontificating, these two get things done.
